Euracare’s internationally-trained & -practiced gastroenterologist Dr Yaw Asante Awuku provides a comprehensive array of diagnostic & treatment procedures, notably:
- Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)

- Photodynamic Therapy
Dr Awuku performs endoscopic procedures using Euracare’s the latest Olympus EVIS EXERA III video system in combination with the EVIS EXERA III Gastroscope (for examination of the esophagus and stomach) and Colonoscope (for examination of the colon). This allows them to conduct a thorough examination of the patient’s anatomy without the need for an incision. The endoscopy system is linked to an endobase documentation and reporting system to eliminate inefficiencies and improve accuracy & traceability. The system also allows for the procedure to be recorded and for the patient to receive a copy.
In addition to the endoscopic suite, our gastroenterologists can rely on Euracare’s world-class medical imaging and diagnostic equipment:
- 1.5 Tesla MRI
- 64-Slice CT
- Digital X-ray
- Ultrasound Systems
- Clinical Laboratory
In conjunction with Euracare’s team of Ghanaian and internationally-trained nurses and radiology & laboratory technicians, the specialists ensure that patients are kept safe and comfortable at all times during the procedures.
Special attention is given to infection control. The endoscopy suite is equipped with a state of the art TD – 20 disinfector to ensure sterilization is conducted according to international norms and standards. As a further safety measure, all instrumentation used is disposable.
