Management and Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction by a World-Leading Expert
Erectile dysfunction (ED) or -impotence, is the persistent inability to attain or maintain an erection. It affects up to 52% of men between the ages of 40 and 70.
ED is also an independent predictor of:
- Clinically overt cardiovascular events
- Coronary artery disease
Vasculogenic conditions, in other words, diseases or disorders of the vascular system affecting blood flow to the penis, are a major cause of ED.
Euracare Ghana’s Medical Director, Professor Nicholas Ossei-Gerning, is a world leading expert in the management and treatment of vasculogenic ED and is a Council Member for the British Society of Sexual Medicine (BSSM). He has pioneered the technique of pudendal stenting, having performed the first pudendal stent in Europe.
Pudendal stenting involves inserting a tiny metal scaffold, or “stent”, to open up blood vessel called the internal pudendal artery. The insertion is performed by threading a hollow tube, called a catheter through a small incision. The placement of the stent is guided by a specialized X-ray machine for maximum accuracy. Only local anesthesia is involved and the patient can generally be discharged after a few hours.
Euracare is the only clinic in Ghana and indeed West Africa where patients can be treated for ED by using this unique technique.
Euracare’s One-Stop ED Clinic allows patients to undergo the initial consultation and the appropriate diagnostic tests on the same day. Pudendal stenting procedures are performed personally by Prof. Ossei-Gerning using cutting-edge equipment and with the support of expert technicians.
